We often refer to flying by wire as a plane that uses electronic control systems in lieu of mechanical connections. Engineers developing the technology to fly a plane without mechanical connections must have an intimate understanding of inputs and their relation to outputs. This thorough understanding naturally leads to improved technology to assist a pilot when at the wheel.

At Protomet we are running our own Fly by Wire experiment… We have set up our shop to have a 3 hour gap between fully staffed shifts. This forces our engineers to develop processes capable of running with minimal support during this window of time. The improved processeallow our operators to spend less time changing parts and more time working the process. This drives innovation and that’s what drives us…

Programming Ourselves to Dream About It…

Some 20 yrs ago when contracting my own house, the daily routine was to meet our carpenter each evening and go over the issues of the day. As this was my first house to contract, there were always new and interesting challenges. Sometimes a solution was not readily apparent to either of us… Sometimes the best solution was not clear…

On more than one occasion when we were both stumped, carpenter John would say “I’ll have to program myself to dream about that one…”. He was being funny while he was also offering useful advice I have never forgotten. The sub-conscience mind is an incredibly powerful tool if we’ll just present the problem and walk away so that the conscience mind can get out of the way and let the sub-conscience get to work.

I am greatly indebted to carpenter John as I now regularly use his technique to solve problems and bring innovation to the job…

This prize includes 2 View4rce products. Rob will receive the VR-140 Panoramic Mirror with Billet Aluminum Housing and the ZXR-200 Windshield mounting system.

The is the all new high performance mirror system introduced by our PTM Edge Marine Division at the IBEX 2011 International Boatbuilders Exhibition. It also won the Product Innovation Award for best new product in its category.

Encouraged to hear very spirited Republican debate on the economy tonight. Don’t know that I can ever remember a field of candidates where I’ve heard the specificity of solutions that were communicated tonight. Part of the opportunity for them lies in the ideological purity embodied by the current incumbent…the positions are established.

Have heard people say in the past that this election or that election will have pivotal consequences. That’s always true “to a degree”. However, this time the choice is as close to 180 degrees as has ever been presented to the American people…
